Vibrant orange and yellow double flowers with impeccable hybrid tea form. Flowers set mostly in small clusters, opening into two-inch high centered blooms; fast and continuous repeat. Foliage is dark green and semi-glossy. * AOE Winner *

I think we have this as a gift from a neighbor who called it "Tomales" and it was original to our neighborhood about 1950. Is there a way to find out how old the Hot Tamale is/was and if it would have been around as early as 1950-1960?

If you scroll down on the main listing page for this rose you will see aka and origin information. This is a Zary rose introduced in 1993. I'm sorry it's not old enough. I did a search using just 'tom' and got this listing for 'Tombola'. http://www.helpmefind.com/rose/pl.php?n=15131 Could this be your rose? Best of luck |

Boy...it's got to be that bush though...had my husband look at it too...this one doesn't grow like the others and is definitely never gotten more than a couple feet tall...we're pretty sure it's the Hot Tamale and given the year of 1993 then it must have been another one we acquired. (not in our "original batch" that we acquired from a neighbor who passed away. ) We have "rescued" several from neighbors thru the years and we have obviously been wrong about which neighbor it came from and when...the 20+ photos online here are just about perfect matches to ours so my husband is sure that's what it is...we have another elderly neighbor who moved away but we can write him and he was the one that told my husband the name was "Tomales" so hopefully he will know more. Thanks for showing how to read more of the Main page info etc. I do appreciate the help because I've got about 10 more to try to identify! Thanks - Sandy in Sacramento, CA

This is the only miniture rose I have had good luck with. My young son picked it
out to grow himself I think because of the name. I was skeptical, but didn't want to
let him down. It has been wonderful! No disease and flowers all the time. I highly
recommend this miniature.
