Bloom: Purple, carmine-red center. [Purple - red.]  Strong fragrance.  Average diameter 2.25".  Medium, full (26-40 petals), cluster-flowered bloom form.  Blooms in flushes throughout the season.   
Habit: Armed with thorns / prickles.  Small, dark green, reddish-purple  foliage.  5 leaflets.  
 Height: 2' to 4' (60 to 120cm).
 
Growing: USDA zone 5b through 10b.  Can be used for beds and borders or garden.  Disease susceptibility: disease resistant.   
Patents: Patent status unknown (to HelpMeFind). 
Notes: Eugène de Beauharnais, the son of Empress Josephine, was born 3 September 1781 and died 21 February 1824. He governed Italy from 1805 to 1814.See also "Le Grand Capitaine".
