'Sunsprite' rose Reviews & Comments

Re Sunsprite (aka Friesa) Bred in Germany (1977)
I believe the date should be 1974, not 1977. 'The Australian Rose Annual' 1974, page 30, featured it as a new rose.

The Kordes catalogue acually says 1973, and it has received a Gold Medal in Baden-Baden in 1972.

Modern Roses 12 also says 1973. Many roses are trialed and receive metals before they are introduced.

Hmmm... let's see, a healthy yellow rose that blooms regularly with great disease resistance and some scent. Somewhat compact growth and decent vigour...what can I complain about? OK...the individual blooms blow somewhat faster than the average rose. A couple days does it, but at leat they go out looking pretty. Oh, and yes ,while it has fragrance I'd rate it about a 5 out of 10 ...its there but you have to get close to the bloom for it isn't a powerful, wafting fragrance, at leat in my experience. Overall, a keeper though, better than most.

This rose frys in the southwest summers. I do enjoy it in the spring and fall though.
