There was a bloom shown as "Pink Baroness Schroeder" being, I suppose, one of the many baronesses who have come from Langport to America. I wonder whether this pink Baroness Schroeder of the Thurlows is identical with La Verne of which one hears so much from the Minnesota people. It would be a good idea for the Thurlows to compare notes with Mr. Ruff or someone else in the northwest in order to find whether we have the same variety here under two names and if so, to come to some agreement about a single name for it. We certainly have our own troubles with the Kelway varieties in America, but the only intelligent thing to do when we find a good one is to combine our efforts and establish it under some name as the standard variety of that name at least for us. This is what we have done with Baroness Schroeder and Lady Duff and I suppose what we are now doing with Miss Salway.

...La Verne. This last is the variety we hear of from our Northwestern confreres. Mr. Thurlow tells me it is a pink variety sent out by Kelway as Baroness Schroeder. That sounds likely.
