1952. The Rose Annual UK
p127. The original firm of D. and W. Croll was founded in 1872 and continued by the Croll family until 1918. The business was then taken over and developed by the present Directors, Mr. R. C. Arnot, Nurseryman, and Mrs. A. R. Lemon, Seedsman, and the late Mr. J. L. Young, on whose death in 1950 the company was re-formed to include Mr. D. Arnot and Mr. A. C. Lemon. Mr. R. C. Arnot and his son David who, incidentally, is the fourth generation of the Arnot family to follow the trade, manage the Dalhousie nurseries and also Barnhill Farm, which adjoins the nursery.....Under the expert supervision of outside manager Mr John Russell a quarter of 1 million Roses are grown each year.
