The opening page of the 1923 Supplement translates (roughly) to (thanks Google)
THE Glide opening of the introduction to the rose book, published in 1909, states, among other things, the aim of the Vereeniging | Ef BOOM- AND PLATENBEURS, ie to promote mutual trade by all appropriate means.
still the aim of the Association, and where there is still a demand, and this is increasingly felt Etta, to know the correct plant names and also to know their origin, the meeting resolved to continue on this path. Since Flora's dearest children are a staple product for most members, it is obvious that they were first thought of. When the rose book was published in 1909, it soon became apparent that it had to be updated, which is why a supplement was published in 1917. But where the rose assortment is constantly expanding, the need has long been felt to update it again. Notwithstanding the great expense, the general meeting in 1922 decided to issue a 2nd supplement.
The Board contacted the Rose Committee of the Vereeniging and found Messrs A. C. v. D. Willik and |. DE ViNK is prepared to take on this work. When perusing this booklet, everyone will see how these gentlemen have fulfilled their task, whereby their knowledge of roses has certainly been to their advantage.
A word of praise, appreciation and thanks is brought to these gentlemen for the great work they have done.
The Board does not doubt for a moment that this booklet will be received with approval, and hopes that it may be of use to both the breeder and the merchant,
