E.F. Allen, Awards to Rose Seedlings in Great Britain in 1989.
A Gold Medal and President's International Trophy were awarded to 'Sweet Symphonie', MEIbarke, a dwarf cluster flower by Meilland (MEIgurami x 'Magic Carrousel'). This had earlier won a Trial Ground Certificate in late 1988. It is almost scentless but the pale pink double flowers are most attractive and it has shown very good rain resistance. I have always marked it highly. During the flowering season members of the public were invited to vote for the three seedlings which gave them the most pleasure at the time of their visit. Many visitors took advantage of this and I can vouch for the fact that not a few took considerable trouble with this pleasant task. In this enthusiastic forum 'Sweet Symphonie took 10th place.
