The Painter MACtemaic  The long canes actually bend downwards from the sheer weight of the bunches of full blooms - carrying a sweet perfume - borne at their ends. The colouring is extraordinary: the most fascinating of all striped varieties. Excellent for tall background plantings & screening of fences or walls when planted about 1.2m apart.

Gerard Williams. Final Analysis 2000-2001
Michelangelo (MACtemaik) McGredy 1995: 'Louise Gardner' x ('Auckland Metro' x seedlings of 'Stars and Stripes'); 32 reports on 32 bushes; 1.4 metres; 8.1 rating. Another very high rating. Flowers are striped orange and cream and foliage is dark green (reddish when young). A novelty colour which invokes comment. The bush is healthy with repeat perhaps average. The form of the rose is good and it makes good small stems at the show. Reporters like the colour.

Gerard Williams. Review of the Newer roses for the 1999-2000 Season. Floribundas.
Michelangelo (MACtemaik). McGredy 1995 (''Louise Gardener' x 'Auckland Metro' x seedling of 'Stars and Stripes'); blooms are orange/red and cream stripes; 8 reports on 8 bushes; 1-4 years; 1.6 metres; 8.1 rating. A striped floribunda with dark foliage. Northland say growing well now. Striking colour. Healthy and can be used as small or large stems. Canterbury has excellent growth and attractive flowers which last. Would like another plant. Otorohanga say a good bi-colour with plenty of flowers and no diseases. Bay of Plenty have a vigorous, healthy plant, and though they are not striped rose fans, they are nevertheless impressed with this one. Marlborough get nice stems which last well. North Taranaki love the shape of the buds and the unusual colour Manawatu say the bush is very strong and upright. Well foliaged and very healthy. A most acceptable striped rose that makes top rating small and large stems.

Gerard Williams. Review of the Newer Roses for the 1998-99 Season. Floribundas.
Michelangelo (MACtemaik) McGredy 1995; 'Louise Gardner' x ('Auckland Metro' x seedling of 'Stars and Stripes'); orange red and cream stripes; 5 reports on 5 bushes; 1-3 years; 1.4 metres; 8.4 rating. A striped floribunda, a strong bush with dark foliage. Nelson says was slow to establish but is better now. Always in flower and always admired. Had some downy mildew earlier. I think I'll buy another bush. Waikato says a healthy bush with striking colour, visitors like it. Napier says good quality blooms and continual flowering. Manawatu says the best striped rose to date. Tall and healthy with dark foliage. Heads of good conformation for both small and large stems. Not too bazaar. Te Awamutu finds it healthy and vigorous.
