Séquier [#2] Gallica. Robert (France) Mid-size, full, violet-purple blooms, spotted with light crimson, on a shrub of medium growth.
Book  (Jul 1998)  Page(s) 292-293.

SÉGUIER Robert (?), 1853 (?). ...the breeder and year bred of this variety is based on information of the rosaries of L'Haÿ and Sangerhausen...and the Nomenclature of Simon and Cochet (1906), as well as various catalogues of the end of the XIXth century and early XXth century. In any case, the origin of this variety seems subject to caution....The catalogues of Moreau-Robert describe "Seguier" as...."6 to 7 cm, full, slaty purple, amaranth, more vivid at the centre, spotted with red and violet". It is thus possible that Robert, in 1853, has taken up [the name of an earlier rose by Vibert] to name a new variety he has bred. ...Although the descriptions speak of a "Full" rose, the specimen at L'Haÿ is not that at all. The uncertainty is complete: for this reason we do not propose any description.
