It'd be funny if the pollen parent was actually 'Olympic Torch'. This was around the time Seizo Suzuki began introducing roses through JP.

This rose was the most amazing rose in my parents' garden. If anyone truly loves roses with heartwarming beauty and eye pleasing form, this rose had all that and more! If anyone has a Spellbinder in their garden, they have a treasure! I would love to own this magnificent rose again!

I have had this one in my garden since the year it was introduced and although it isnt the greatest or most vigourous, it manages to hang on. Would be glad to try and root a cutting or two if you would like

If you still have 'Spellbinder' , I wonder if I might have a cutting too. This was my favorite rose, but it froze out one year and I have missed it ever since. Thank you for your response.

I* still have this one, its been doing a bit better in recent years. Id be happy to share a cutting with you next spring when I go about pruning - the bush has now gone dormant and I wont be cutting until around March. let me know how to reach you and I will send you some cuttings then.

Dear fellow Rose enthusiast, Thank you for your offer to send me a cutting or two of Spellbinder if you can successfully root them. I used to lovingly tend the rose garden on our farm and although we had some real beauties, Spellbinder was a favorite of mine. Our rose garden was a show stopper. In fact, the local garden clubs wouldspend hours here teaching members how to judge roses and many of the other flowers I grew. Sadly, when I went away to College, the gardens no longer flourished. Maybe owning this rose again would be a welcome reminder of the carefree days of my youth. I wrote a story about Smokey and Spellbinder for a College English class and it was only after I got an A that I told the Professor that the story was not about two people, in love, who died together in the winter, but about two roses that went dormant. The Professor was not amused...only a Rosarian could really appreciate that. I know I would be happy to pay for the cuttings and the charges you incut in shipping them to me. Please contact me at (585) 494-1149. Thankyou for your kindness.
