[From "Why Moss Roses", by Ivy Bodin, pp. 22-23]
My second Moss family rose is ‘Jean Bodin’, unbelievably stocked by [the former]Vintage Roses upon special order. It’s my family name and so I ordered two. One lived and is a very large bush to this day. It makes a smallish, lovely, light pink bloom that is very full of petals. The bush is covered with blooms for about six weeks.. The bloom is nicely fragrant and so are the resinous buds.

The Moss rose Jean Bodin was raised in France and named in 1843. It has brownish young leaves turning later to deep leaden green, on an upright, self-reliant bush, which will probably reach to  about 4 ft (1.2m). Few roses present their blooms better; they are arranged all over the bushes, almost from the ground upwards and they are interspersed with clusters of buds covered with brown moss. The moss is of the rather stiff, prickly kind inherited from the Perpetual White Damask Moss. Like almost all Moss roses this has a delicious scent.
