'Glory of California' rose Reviews & Comments

The description on the leader page say's "This rose is said to grow still at Sangerhausen, but the plant there is pale pink, whereas Schoener’s original ‘Glory of California’ was yellow. Refer references.". I've looked at references and only pink is mentioned, are there more references?

I have no more and have never found anything to attribute 'Glory of California' to Alister Clark. Perhaps someone might follow up on Brent Dickerson's hint of Franceschi-Fenzi in the 2001 reference. As well, some research at the Jesuit University at Santa Clara might not go astray as Schoener lectured there in 1939 and 5000 of his rose bushes were planted on the grounds of the university.

I'm getting the impression that somebody might have thought it was a Clark, simply because it was a gigantea cross that was bred in Clark's heyday. I'm 99.9999% sure Clark would never have given one of his roses that name, but I can definitely see a Californian doing that.
