Madge Whipp is very shapely and is well carried; however, it is not very free and petals seem to bleach to a dirty white on the sunny side, which quite spoils it at times.

Madge Whipp: Shorter bloom and less brilliant than Poinsettia but it opens better despite a few extra petals. Good growth. It and Poinsettia rank with William Orr, Malar Ros, Crimson Glory, Rouge Mallerin and Rome Glory as my really good reds.

p83.  Mr. S. J. Bisdee.  Tasmanian Roses.
Madge Whipp: As reports indicated that this is now growing satisfactorily, I gave it a trial. Growth this year is only medium, but the bloom is a very fine thing of crimson-scarlet and of wonderful form.
