May Wettern Very strong grower.  Extremely floriferous.  Pink pointed and perfectly shaped blooms which, though on the small side, are almost all of exhibition quality.  This variety is particularly suited for a basket exhibit, as flowers, even when fully opened, stand for hours.

p91-3  F. Fairbrother.  Symposium.
May Wettern  (HT)  A bloom of good shape and substance.  It is a beautiful blending of salmon pink on the inner face and soft rosy pink on the outer face of the petals.  Its fault is that it is subject to mildew and precaution should be taken to spray early

E. A. Smith. Toorak, South Australia.   An Amateur Rose Grower’s Experiences.
It seems a waste of time trying to strike Pernetianas, but I have some fine bushes this year of Margaret McGredy (which is a wonderful garden Rose), Madame Butterfly, Ophelia, Joseph Hill, Sunny South, Lady Greenall, Mrs. Bryce Allen, Maman Cochet (climber) and Madame Abel Chatenay.    Speaking of the latter reminds me that I had a very nice plant this year of May Wettern, salmon pink, which is catalogued as an improved Mad. Abel Chatenay.  Although many claim to be improvements of this popular variety, I think May Wettern is really an improvement in the flower;  it seems to be bigger and more pointed, but it is not so vigorous in growth.
