Harry H. Hazlewood.  The New Roses of 1937.
McGredy's Coral, HT. (McGredy, 1936), has a very definite disadvantage as regards the name. This year four new sorts are listed prefixed with the raiser's name, and when added to the already too long list of similarly styled Roses, confusion is assured. All credit will be given unstintingly to the firm's undoubted craftsmanship in raising so many new Roses, but similar skill in selecting short, appropriate, different names would considerably increase the Rose world's appreciation. 'McGredy's Coral' is a good grower and a particularly attractive colour. It might be called a much improved cherry, and with 35 petals it is distinctly promising.

New Roses 1937. McGredy's Coral (HT.  McGredy 1936) The large, pointed, perfectly formed blooms continuously produced are a unique colour, best described as coral pink, overlaid salmon, with copper shading. Vigorous, free and branching growth. 5/- each.
Like a vastly improved 'Cherry'. 30 petals. Good growth and particularly attractive.
