This is an unusual little rose. The buds have an elongated pointed aspect when they are poised to open, hence the name 'Candleflame'. The effect is very striking seen in profile. Once open, the single row of petals have a starry shape, like those of certain clematis varieties. The leaves are fine and elongated, adding to the unique feel of the plant.
