Director Rubió, in charge of Barcelona (Spain) public parks and Royal Gardens... cochineal-pink... The Pedralbes rose-garden is laid out in a superbly beautiful spot and is not open to the general public. The roses are cultivated, under the patronage of the King, by the park department of the city of Barcelona, whose accomplished superintendent, Señor Nicolas M. Rubió, a former pupil of Monsieur J.C.N. Forestier, of France, is the architect who recently redesigned with great skill the whole ancient enclosure of the Palace of Pedralbes.

Director Rubio. Mr. Hazlewood has so persistently held that this is a fine thing, much neglected, that I decided to try it. The colour description of magenta-red always made me pass it over previously, for I dislike magenta. However, it is not magenta here, but quite a pleasing pink, and will, I think, develop into a very desirable thing; certainly a delightfully pretty Rose.
