Bred by Paul Nabonnand (1860-1937) (France, before 1924).

Carmine-red.  Large, single to semi-double, cupped bloom form.  Once-blooming spring or summer.  Long buds.  
Habit:
Armed with thorns / prickles, climbing.  Light green foliage.  7 leaflets.  

Height: 32'10" to 39'4" (1000 to 1200cm).  Width: 8' (245cm).

USDA zone 8b through 9b.

Notes:
