One significant New Zealand rose garden omission for this rose.
The Christchurch City Botanic Gardens Rose Garden has a whole bed allocated to this variety.

I have already provided this about 6 hours ago in relation to a similar comment I made about rose Candella :-)

Jayne Austin's fragrance is strong not mild as stated in the 'description'. Every time I buried my nose inside this rose, I can detect a strong licorice smell (not my favorite smell). Some people described this smell as tea - but in my opinion, the smell is not as pleasant as compare to Graham Thomas or Teasing Georgia. I guess it's a matter of taste. The blooms are smaller than Evelyn and the leaves are thick, light green colour. Here in Australia, it wants to become a climber.

Characteristics like size, color and fragrance can vary quite significantly depending on soil and climate and that's why it's so helpful to have members share their experience and insight as you have done.

We will update the listing to reflect your experience.
