If anyone will be visiting the Fineschi garden in the next few months, it would be nice to see detailed photos of their plant of Socrate.

That's a pity, but thanks for letting me know. Maybe Sangerhausen or the Gothenburg Rosarium, then. Or Angel Gardens nursery.
It looks like there are one or two incorrect versions around.
"David's Dilemma" fits well with early descriptions of Socrate, but I'm concerned that some of the Socrate photos look like the flowers change colour where the sun hits the petals.

for a better understanding of socrate's appearance please try to have a look to the 'komlosy chromolithographs' of old roses published by late bob edberg. can anyone help us out?

I saved this when Mr. Edberg sent a couple of the Komlosy plates as a flyer for his publication, but it has COPYRIGHT LIMBERLOST ROSES 2010 stamped all over it. The picture is quite apricot-looking but I am unable to enlarge it to see more details. Certainly does not look like what I remember of "David's Dilemma".

Socrate (Moreau-Robert, 1859): Blume dunkelrosa, Centrum aprikosenfarbig;"

My translation:
Favourite Roses ...
Socrate (Moreau-Robert, 1859): Flower dark pink, centre apricot-coloured.

I would like someone to post flower photos of this one (thanks for the bud photo!), for comparison with a found rose, "David's Dilemma". (That one doesn't have a HMF entry yet, but there are two photos under Gardens - Non-commercial - Ruston's.)

"David's Dilemma" does now have a HelpMeFind file and I have often wondered if it could be 'Mrs. Campbell Hall', rather than 'Socrate'

Understand perfectly Kai-Eric. The Rosarium Zweibrücken/Germany, imposter looks similar to 'Sombreuil'

exactly, patricia. that was my impression when i first saw the open flower. it smells fruity. obviously it is not 'socrate'.
but...where is 'socrate'?
checking my dates i never did see 'socrate' at sangerhausen. who did?
what's about it at cavriglia?
