I misposted this comment at parent new zealand. I have full sail in my garden east side of coastal hills n. CA. This is a very beautiful fragrant rose. However morning fog balls most of buds which rot and never open. Did best in drought. This morning i discovered a bud open about 3 petals depth and in each level of the petal spiral one petal is half pink mosaic like going all the way through so far. Will see if thats true when rose fully opens. Second problem with this roseis that it has branch dieback. Sometimes when i just cut a . Long stem the entire stem dies back and they dont come back. Had this happen when i pruned too. Was never very cold during drought so that may have contributed to it. But this rose is tall and doesnt take pruning well. Will probably dig up and give to my daughter in san jose. Tolerates heat well

Available from - Swane's Nursery/Swane Bros Pty Ltd
Just received a very nice potted Full Sail from Green E. Funnily enough it had a Swane's tag attached to it. So I go to check Swane's website and sure enough, Full Sail is on page 4 of their 2016 catalogue.

FWIW this example was on Dr. Huey stock, so I assume that what Swane's uses. Not sure if they use any others.

Does anyone know if this rose is available in Europe? One can find New Zealand, but I have not been successful in locating a single European source for Full Sail. This is a little perplexing, at least if Full Sail shares the many virtues of New Zealand!

Can't be sure, but I suspect it probably is available in Europe. It appears the HMF nursery listing for this rose is incomplete. Have you tried directly contacting European nurseries, rather than just relying on their websites?
I know it's available in Australia (http://www.treloarroses.com.au/index.php?route=product/product&path=131_136&product_id=2239) even though HMF's current nursery listing doesn't show this.

Thank you. I did not contact the nurseries directly, but have combed their websites pretty thoroughly... :) In the UK only a very few nurseries stock even New Zealand... and none Full Sail. (I am really not sure why: I have read reports of New Zealand balling in wet weather, but it's never done it here, always performing admirably).

Hamanasu - contact C. & K. Jones in England. They have often sold McGredy roses in the past.
Give me caffeine - There may have been a glitch. At first, it didn't show for me as being sold as Treloar. (I actually spent some hours adding Treloar's roses - why they don't want to do this themselves is completely beyond me!! [see also 'Dark Desire' comments] - and had ticked it off as already being listed by HelpMefind). So went into the HMF nursery listing and had a look from there. Yes. It is being listed. Durn glitches!

Ha. Treloar's have probably figured that if they just act stubborn, you'll update the list for them. :D
Edit: Here's Jones' list of McGredy roses: https://jonestherose.co.uk/search?controller=search&orderby=position&orderway=desc&search_query=McGredy&submit_search=
Full Sail isn't listed, but that doesn't mean they don't know how to get hold of it. Sometimes nurseries hold plants that they don't list, or know where to get them.

Oh, good that the parent doesn't ball for you. I'll be planting one later this year (as soon as Thomas 4 Roses starts digging them) and was slightly worried about the reputation for balling. Subtropical here, so lots of rain at times. Will be interesting to see how it goes in my climate.
Anyway, re Full Sail, perhaps someone in the Royal National Rose Society might know of a source?
Edit: If you really get stuck, and are determined to have this rose, some of the US nurseries may be prepared to ship to the UK via airmail. From a quick look around, basic airmail prices per pound from the USA to the UK don't seem too extravagant.
Most of the USA nurseries' websites seem to exclude shipping overseas (based on a quick search), but Heirloom and Regan don't specifically say they won't ship overseas. Could be worth an email or two if you are keen.

Thank you both for your helpful suggestions. I will contact C&K and also consider the US route (I had already done a little research on the latter front, though not very thoroughly). I would really like a pure white version of New Zealand with its unbeatable scent (NZ's salmon tints do not blend very well in my small and overcrowded container garden).
As to balling, Give me caffeine, yes, New Zealand never balled for me. Never got any powdery mildew either. It does get some blackspot (not terrible, mind you), but in a wet climate and no spray garden like mine I am willing to forgive it that.
