Avril's Day. ....Avril is the wife of Eric Stainthorpe of Battersby Roses on the North Yorkshire moors. ....friends, Heather and Colin Horner, who often send unnamed seedlings to the North East, eventually came up trumps. A small Hybrid Tea rose bred by Heather from the cut flower rose 'Alpha' x ('Southampton' x 'Old Master') increased Avril's blood pressure even more. This was to be her rose to be named for her team Middlesbrough Football Club.....
