Very true but ... Rivista della Ortoflorofrutticoltura Italiana (1951) says " Alle rose italiane: 1° certificato di merito alla rosa FIAMMA presentata dalla Ditta F.lli Giacomasso – Torino – ottenitore Comm. D. Aicardi di Sanremo – floribunde color rosso fuoco." This reference is very precise and lists also the foreign roses that got a 1° certificato di merito (N. 4436 D by Laperriere J., Chief Seattle by Armstrong, SE 318 by Meilland, CCC 1924 by Meilland)
