Heirloom Roses and Hortico are the only North American nurseries that are on the HMF list of those that sell 'Sir Edward Elgar.' However, neither of these two nurseries lists this rose any more in its catalogue. I've been trying to find this Austin rose and it would be terrible if it's not at all available in the entire North America. Hope someone would chime in with the new nursery information.

Thats because Austin has a STUPID policy of not allowing anyone that wants to sell Austins xurrent varieties to sell the older ones. Thes companies would be prevented from getting the new varieties by David Austin LLC if they sell the older ones. We doth protestith!

Does not Kordes also impose restrictive contracts on its' licensees? I don't know for sure, but I notice that when nurseries stock up on the latest eleganzas and arborroses, they don't seem to be selling very much of anything else.
Is it a good business decision to sign such contracts at all? Palatine seems to be selling roses at a fast clip, and offers no DAs.

I don't know of any other rose breeder that actively tries to prohibit distribution of their own earlier varieties. Austin, on the other hand, has a long history of doing so.
