My first bloom from my new band. At first, when the bud began to open, it looked like it was a single petaled rose. To my pleasant surprise it continued to unfurl, revealing the many petals. I am in love! The petals give off a glow from a distance.

I chose St Cecilia purely based on it's scent which I would describe as myrrh but it's not overpowering like other David Austins which make me turn my nose! The fragrance is always detectable and has hints of almond blossom which I find delicious but others don't seem to like it as much as I do, so it's definitely an acquired taste. Blooms are a very light pastel pink, heavily petalled and shallowly cupped but occasionally ones that look like peony roses form and those are just beautiful!

Powerful myrrh fragrance, one of the most fragrant English Roses. Also one of the most cold hardy. Survives very well unprotected as an own root plant in a zone 4b garden in Eastern Ontario.

Perfect blooms that hold up in 100 plus weather. Strong fragrance too. Best David Austin creation ever. Look at the form.
