Origin:

Bred by Alexander (Sandy) Dickson III (1893-1975) (United Kingdom, 1931).
Introduced in Australia by Hazlewood Bros. Pty. Ltd. in 1933 as 'Gipsy Lass'.

Class:

Found Rose, Hybrid Tea.

Bloom:

Scarlet - crimson. With blackish shadings. Short petalled. No centre. Very lasting [Blackish shadings. Flower “blues” slightly with age. Imbricated petals. Petals reverse down stem when bloom ages. Clusters of up to 4. Pedicel glandular]. Strong, damask, sweet fragrance. 66 to 80 petals. Average diameter 3". Medium, full (26-40 petals), flat, globular, nodding or "weak neck" bloom form. Blooms in flushes throughout the season. Ovoid buds.

Habit:

Tall, arching, bushy, upright, well-branched.

Height: up to 4' (up to 120cm).

Growing:

USDA zone 6b through 9b (default). Can be used for cut flower or garden. Heat tolerant. Disease susceptibility: susceptible to blackspot .

Blooms short-petalled, rather flat, globular.
Foliage weak, hard, leathery.
Long erect, weak, willowy stems, sometimes arching.

Season: late. Most photos have been taken in December and January (mid to late summer in Western Australia)
Prickles: No thorns on flowering laterals. Large thorns on old wood.
Canes: New growth color reddish brown. Mature cane surface Green. Old Canes: Grey.
An identification characteristic of this rose is its very thin stems.
