It seems likely to me that 'George Cuvier' and 'Georges Cuvier' are synonymous. Is there any reason to suppose that they are different in any respect aside from the spelling?

No reason. Apart from in England, they would say George and in France it would be Georges. Files merged. Thanks Virginia

George Cuvier; but George is not so full as the Comte [de Rambuteau], though the petals are so fine, and the colour so brilliant, that every one will admire him. What is the colour? A bright deep pink, of a peculiar and striking tint. Then the habit is good—in fact George Cuvier will be welcome anywhere.
