Modern Roses 12 shows that 'Unermüdliche' was bred by Geschwind, 1904, and introduced by Lambert or Choteck circa 1930. Is there more than one China of this name? Also, the color is listed as mauve but described as maroon with white center, medium-sized, semi-double. None of these roses is maroon. Can anyone offer more information?

The synonym in MR 12 must be incorrect. 'Unermüdliche' and 'Geschwind's Unermüdliche' have different parentages and are not similar. The latter should be similar to 'Gruss an Teplitz'.

If this rose was introduced to the USA in the 1930's, I wouldn't be surprised if it were renamed. During that time period, renaming was rampant: Wilhelm -> Skyrocket, Mevr. van Straaten van Nes -> Permanent Wave, Wilhelm Breder -> Glowing Sunset, just to name a few.
