Admins - please delete the info about Mr. Lewis - and the "bourbon collection" - he has passed away and it has never ever been there.

A gem of rose! Very unsual Bourbon rose since it stay 2-4 feet tall and has a compact bushy growth habit. Sort of like a miniture bourbon. Excellent repeat bloom! It is one of the most fragrant bourbon roses I grow and have ever smelled. Wonderful! the very strong fragrance does not come as a surprise considered it parents/ancestry! It is extremely rare and almost extinct - not even The Bourbon Rose Collection or Europa Rosarium SangerHausen has this rose. The Danish Rosenursery Assens Planteskole, who list the rose do not have it. I have propagated plants for friends and sent budwood to Rozenkwekerij de Bierkreek in Holland, who now has plants for sale. Hans Van Tage has agreed to exchange plants with Ashdown roses in USA, so this extremely rare rose will become availble in USA too.

Niels, thanks for posting these great photos. I'd love to see more of the look of the foliage this season.

One of the REFERENCES lists the habit as "climbing".

I have never seen any of my plants displaying any climbing habits - some have at best produced 2-2,5 feet "tall" basal shots, which hardly qualify as climbing - anywhere.
It is a very compact little rose-bush that is slow in building up - 4-5 years +. I can best
compare it's growth habit to Duchesse de Rohan - a damask perpetual/Portland rose. In
many aspects these 2 roses looks very similar Both have the same heavy old rose/damask fragrance. This rose does however rebloom better in my observations.
