'Ellen Poulsen' Short   Pink    Remontant  P3    H2
I remember this rose with affection, for it was one of the most free and continuous in flower, and had an air of refinement about its foliage. The colour was deep, between pink and rose red. It was raised by Dines Poulsen from 'Mme Norbert Levavasseur' x  'Dorothy Perkins', and had some of  the deeper, burnished colour of R. wichuraiana's leaves. Introduced in 1911.

C. H. Isaac.  The Hybrid Polyantha Roses.
Ellen Poulsen is probably the best known and most widely grown member of the earlier polyantha roses. She is not one of the Orleans Type but was the result of crossing one of the original Polyanthas with the rambling rose Dorothy Perkins and she has survived because she has given us some of those qualities which we seek—-qualities which the Hybrid Polyanthas are being bred to give us - hardiness, freedom from disease, continuous free blooming, usefulness for cut flowers.
