This rose was probably the most unusual I have grown. It is PACKED with petals, but that also gave it a tendency to ball. The bloom has an antique form. The color is the most unusual shade of rich pink, almost with a brownish hint. The story goes that Renoir used the petals of this rose as a color swatch for his model's skin when they weren't able to sit for him. I suppose that accounts for the story as to the unusual tint of this rose, and its name.

In 1982? Maybe the marketers don't let facts get in the way of a good story.

The good story is that perhaps Mons. Renoir rose up from his 1919 grave to breathe some flesh coloured pollen on to the sexy seed parent for his namesake 1982 rose. Stranger things have been known to happen.
