ARS:
Registration name: GSHAG (Peter Harris)
Bloom:
Strong, musk fragrance. Average diameter 1.5".
Growing:
USDA zone 7b through 9b. Disease susceptibility: susceptible to blackspot , susceptible to Mildew.
Breeder's notes:
The objective of this cross was to combine the disease resistance and cold hardiness of 'Agnes' with the color and repeat blooming of 'Golden Showers'. GSHAG was fertile and repeat-blooming despite its poor qualities: terrible susceptibility to both black spot and mildew. But it had another poor quality: tenderness. It died during a mild winter in Lubbock, Texas;
You never know what you'll get. Some would have said the cross was impossible, but it's evident that some triploids throw pollen which is fertile with tetraploids.
