R. T. Hamilton. Alister Clark. I remember when he attended one of the annual meetings of the Rose Society of Victoria, which are held early in July, with a glorious bunch of ‘Anne Leygues’, then a very old rose. I am afraid that, with the passing of Mr. Clark, many similar old roses have been lost for ever.

T. A. Stewart “Rose Growing as a Sport” ......We can remember how Anne Leygues and other old varieties have been beautifully shown by Mr. Alister Clark on more than one occasion at our annual meeting in July (the middle of winter).
Book  (1943)

p44-3 Alister Clark “A Rose Hunter’s Review”. The old Roses from the French Riviera are a great stand-by in winter, and the race of second cross seedlings from Rosa Gigantea join hands with them in seldom, if ever, resting. It is surprising to find that whatever country sends us Roses they all seem to do well in Australia. Anne Leygues as a bush or hedge Rose is perhaps the healthiest Rose I have seen, but Archiduc Joseph and General Schablikine join it in making a fine trio of winter Roses. In trying to collect these Roses, I asked Mr. Walter Easlea to scour the continent for me, and he succeeded wonderfully, but could not get nearly all I required. When finished, he told me that he hoped I would never give him another job like it, as he had endless trouble, only getting one here and there, and I am afraid it was a losing proposition for him collecting them.

Alister Clark “A Walk about ‘Glenara’ ”. ......here is Anne Leygues, a great winter Rose; it vies with Mrs. Harold Brookes as the healthiest of Rose plants.
Book  (1936)  Page(s) 44.

Alister Clark “Random Reflections” ....On my return to ‘Glenara’ “my roses seemed very small after those of New Zealand, but either they have improved very much since the four inches of rain that fell at the end of March or my eyes have got used to them, as they now seem quite large enough and of beautiful colouring. I wonder which Rose is the most free, and I picture a contest between Lorraine Lee, Comtesse de Noghera, Sunny South, Busybody and Anne Leygues being almost a dead heat (omitting, of course, the Polyanthas

Alister Clark “Rose Notes from ‘Glenara’ ”. A glance round my garden reveals good prospect of winter-flowering Roses, although we are within a month of the shortest day. ......and Anne Leygues are all full of young, fresh foliage and buds, and give a warning that it would be a fatal error to let the Pernetianas sweep these lovely Roses out of our gardens.
Book  (1929)  Page(s) 20.

Alister Clark “Neglected Roses”. .....Other winter flowering roses are Anne Leygues, Sophia King, and Princess de Radziwill, Peace and G. Nabonnand.
