HT, pb, 1988, Melville Nurseries Pty., Ltd.; flowers pale pink with cyclamen-pink shading, reverse flecked and striped with pink-silver, large, 20-25 petals, decorative, borne in sprays of 5 - 6, slight, sweet fragrance; foliage dark green, glossy, disease-resistant; prickles slightly hooked, beige-cream; medium growth. Shelly. 1987. Attractive blooms with a soft creamy base and fluted cyclamen-pink petal edges. Lightly fragrant and free flowering. Dark glossy foliage and red stems on a small bush. Bred by Bob Melville. 1.5m. Suitable for growing in a pot. More or less, continuous flowering. An excellent cut-flower.

Shelly – 1988. Colour sport of Francine (Krilof) 1961) Large flowered Bush rose Sport. Large, double, slightly fragrant, pink flowers blended silvery white, fully recurrent. Dark green, smooth leathery foliage, large leaflets, reddishy orange new growth. Flower 22 petals, 100 mm, 1 to 6. Bush 1.25m x 1m.

Shelly. Modern large flowered hybrid tea. Pink blend. Repeat flowering. There is a unique combination of colors and shades in the flowers of this rose – pale pink with cyclamen pink shadings and a striped reverse of pale pink and silver. The large, semi-double blooms contain 20-25 petals with decorative form. They are borne in sprays of 5-6 and have a light sweet fragrance. The foliage is dark green, glossy and disease resistant on a medium sized, compact plant bearing slightly hooked prickles. Zones 5-10. Melville, Australia, 1988. Sport of Francine.

Mrs. Con Ryan, Australian Raised Roses symposium. Another West Australian rose which I find very free flowering and colourful in the garden is ‘Shelly’ a sport from ‘Francine’; raised by Robert Melville. The colour is cream splashed and edged with cyclamen pink. Pleasant fragrance and dark green glossy foliage.
