Book (1918) p148. Walter Easlea. Some New and Little Known Climbing and Rambling Roses. Lady Gwendoline Colvin is a very attractive variety. I should say it was raised from Lady Pirrie, for it has much in common with that fine Rose both in colour and in the appearance of its growth, which is very vigorous.
p219. Advertisement. Joyning's Nurseries, Waltham Cross. Chaplin's New Seedling Pedigree Roses. Lady Gwendoline Colvin (Hybrid Tea). A beautiful climbing or pillar Rose of exceptional merit, it being quite a new break in this section. Its growth is exceedingly strong, making shoots from 6 to 1o feet long. The blooms are long, pointed and beautifully reflex, and possess a sweet tea scent. The colour is best described as Apricot Salmon shaded chrome yellow, the outer petals are stained a beautiful carmine, and reminds one of a glorified Lady Pirrie. This variety has been greatly admired by all who have seen it, and will prove a most valuable addition to the Climbing section..
