Cree. C.E.F. Ottawa. R. rugosa alba plena x R. spinosissima hispida. This makes a handsome shrub with glossy bright green leaves, with seven leaflets. The large single flowers are pale pink on opening, fading to white. It blooms early and is perfectly hardy at Ottawa.

In "Progress in Breeding Hardy Roses," Isabella Preston says,

Cree . . . has rich green foliage intermediate in size and shape between the parents. The flowers, which are about three inches across, are pale pink in bud but change to white when fully open. Unfortunately, they are very fleeting but the foliage is attractive until frost.

In "Central Canadian Rose-Breeding," by Isabella Preston, "R. rugosa in a double white form was crossed with R. spinosissima hispida, and one seedling was grown. It was named Cree. It has attractive foliage and single, pale pink flowers. It sets a few seed-pods. "

Cree: Originated at Experimental Farm, Ottawa. Flowers single, pale pink fading to white. At Beaverlodge, planted in 1933 it killed about 65 per cent in 1936-37.
