First year in my garden. It is still blooming in October and its foliage is nearly flawless. A definite favourite as its grapefruit scent was stronger than expected, its blooms pleasantly varied and it has bloomed nearly continuously (very short breaks between flushes)

Got a "Rose De Cisterciens" from Hortico two years ago, and it has never bloomed -- not once. The leaves are more "species-like" than any other hybrid tea in my collection and I started discussing this with someone else who got this variety from Hortico within the last several years who had the same experience. Now, we're both wondering if the rose Hortico sends out under this name is really this rose. Anyone else had this experience with a "Rose De Cisterciens"?

I also bought this rose from Hortico, just last year. The leaves on mine are also suspiciously "species-like," but mine actually has bloomed. Unfortunately, the bloom was pure white.

After much research, mine turned out to be Autumn Damask -- solid pink flowers. I have heard others say they got rootstock (i.e. multiflora). For me, all is well now as Hortico has replaced the misnamed plant, and it has just bloomed this week, AND it was accurately marked. Yippee.

I have been looking for this rose for the last 8 years. When you purchased your rose from Hortico, what was the name of the rose that you purchased?

I contacted Hortico just this week and they don't have "Rose des Cisterciens" even listed according to their Customer Service rep Nicole.

If you could give me any information that you used to purchase this rose I would be very grateful. It's my very favourite rose, I had two but lost them in a move from a clay soil home to a sandy soil home.
