Beaucoup plus tard, vers 1910, son jardinier, nommé Busby, obtiendra un hybride de gigantea qu'il dédiera à un candidat malheureux à la présidence des États-Unis dont le nom français ne fut certainement pas un atout durant la campagne électorale : "Sénateur Lafollette", encore très cultivé sur la Côte d'Azur.
