'Admiral'....has very soft pink colouring resembling that of 'Lady Luck' but the stems are not as long and there are many more petals. I prefer 'Lady Luck' as a general purpose rose and cannot understand why it is grown by so few people.

Lady Luck. HT. (Miller, 1956) ('Tom Breneman' x 'Show Girl'). The late Harry Hazlewood sent me three plants of this very beautiful rose in 1957. They grew well at first and then showed signs of virus infection. The eyes had come from California where this virus was prevalent at that time. In 1963 I saw some very robust plants of it in Ohio and I have been sent some eyes by the grower and another American friend. The fairly big, very pointed and strongly scented flowers are in an unusual shade of light pink with a faint suggestion of mauve, thirty-five petals. Long thin stems. Very few thorns.
