From the patent regarding parentage:

"The female parent (i.e., the seed parent) was Rosa kordesii of Breeding Line L83, and the male parent (i.e., the pollen parent) was [(Rosa kordesii.times.(RED DAWN.times.SUZANNE).times.CHAMPLAIN]."

"Seedling" listed as the pollen parent would be correct but the patent gives us more detail and it might be good to reflect the detail for historical purposes. If I'm reading this correct it looks like based on the patent, the parentage could read:

Pod: L83
Pollen [(R. kordesii x (Red Dawn x Suzanne) x Champlain]

Thank you!

Rob........

Check the parentage on the rose page to see if I have got it right. When you say "from the breeding line of L83", I am guessing that the seed parent should be a seedling of 'R. Kordesii' rather than 'R. Kordesii'. Should I make this change, too ?

My understanding is that the seed parent was Svejda's L83. L83, from what I've read was R. kordesii x G49, G49 being her own version of R. kordesii, a seedling of Max Graf. So, I think L83 or seedling of R. kordesii would be correct but for historical purposes L83 would explain more than seedling of R. kordesii does. Sorry if I'm confusing things. Thank you Lyn!

In a hand written data sheet sent to me by Dr. Felicitas Svejda a year ago she states the breeding to be:
<R. kordesii/> x (‘Max Graf’ seedling from 2 cycles of open pollination)

David,

Would this supercede the patent information? Thanks.

Thanks, Rob. I have changed the seed parent to 'seedling of L83'.

I guess I have confused things. If the patent information is correct the pod parent should be L83, not "seedling of". Sorry Lyn.

Rob, I had L83 as bred by the Central Experimaental Farm in Canada from a Swedish website. Is this the place where Dr. Svejda was working? In this case we should have both in the breeder listing.
