I've always wanted rosebushes, and finally ordered 3 this year...Sunita and 2 Buck roses (Serendipity and Silver Shadows). This was really my husband's choice - orange is his favorite color! When I received the rose at the end of April, it was only about 6" tall. I planted it, and for the first several days it didn't look too great compared to the other 2 roses I planted at the same time. It may have been transplant shock or maybe I just had to get the watering schedule right. But before long it started to thrive and grew faster than the others. This was the first to get a bud by about 2 weeks, and the first rose bloomed at the beginning of June. The rose is small - but my plant is only about 14-16" tall right now! It is beautiful and I can't wait til it blooms again!

sunita is growing wonderfully and popping out blooms with regularity. there is a new one every several days. :)

the color ranges between Gold Medal yellow, and a sort of peach-toned yellowy orange that is unlike any other rose i have seen. the highlights, or edging, is a sort of pinkish red that varies in intensity. each flower looks different. (but they are so CUTE!) it is lovely how frequently it blooms.

THE SCENT:
the closest i could describe would be something like a sun-ripened nectarine. it's truly a unique smell, and i cannot resist sniffing the roses over and over. (the most similar to it would be Heaven on Earth, though that one smells like a just-picked peach.)

i bought this rose as a band and it has been growing spectacularly!

it has only been a few weeks, and it already looks the size of a normal rosebush like you would buy from home depot or somewhere. it's habit is very much like Mozart's Lady, growing sort of bushily but sending up stalks that are laden with buds. it is working on a very large central cane right now and is overall around 2 1/2' tall.

the first rose opened today and it is a delicious golden yellow-orange (reminiscent of gold medal). the edging is a nice rich orange (the fruit) color. and the form is very tight and pleasing. plenty of petals, too. i'd say the stated diameter of 3" is accurate when the flower is fully opened.

i'm infinitely pleased with this rose, and am glad i took a chance on it.

(i will be posting pictures in the near future.)
