Origin:

Bred by Mike Shoup (United States, 2004).
Introduced in United States by Antique Rose Emporium (Brenham, Texas) in 2000 as 'Engelmann's Quest'.

Class:

Shrub. (Series: Pioneer)

Bloom:

Yellow. None to mild fragrance. 4 to 8 petals. Average diameter 3". Large, single (4-8 petals), cluster-flowered, in small clusters bloom form. Continuous (perpetual) bloom throughout the season.

Habit:

Medium, compact. Medium, semi-glossy, medium green foliage.

Height: 3' to 4' (90 to 120cm).

Growing:

USDA zone 5b and warmer. Can be used for beds and borders, container rose or garden. Hardy. Remove spent blooms to encourage re-bloom. Spring Pruning: Remove old canes and dead or diseased wood and cut back canes that cross. In warmer climates, cut back the remaining canes by about one-third. In colder areas, you'll probably find you'll have to prune a little more than that.

Notes:

George Engelmann was a German-born American botanist who settled in St. Louis and collected plants in nearby states, includingTexas (see comments). One of the plants he described is Rosa minutifolia. Dr. Engelmann's involvement was central to the founding of the Missouri Botanical Garden.

Some question exists about parentage. The breeder's notes reportedly state it as (Seafoam x Kiftsgate) x Mrs. Oakley-Fisher. Registration information states the breeding entered into the database.
