Beautifully & completely covered a 7ft rebar tripod trellis by second spring. Easy to grow.
Very lush, elegant foliage when not in bloom. Blooms perfume the air.
Heavy feeder...grows best with manure.
Healthiest in full sun.
Laterals snap off the moderately flexible canes VERY easily on this rose. Take care when training/moving/prunning.
Minimal blackspot in late humid summer. (I don't spray this rose until then)

My 'Mme Lauriol de Barny' is susceptible to mildew in the manner of chinas (similar to 'Old Blush'). any comparable experience?

if you mean, that the desease shows rather on the young buds and penticels than the foliage i would say yes.
(mine shows the same symtoms as "viridiflora")

No, ours has it on the foliage as well, and with a very similar pattern to Chinas.

It mildewed badly every Spring here in the low desert. I loved it though!
