Bred by Kenneth J. "Ken" Nobbs (New Zealand, before 1984).
Introduced by Unknown (New Zealand) in 1997 as 'Harriet Shepherd'.
Class:
Hybrid Multiflora.  
Bloom:
Mauve or purple blend, ages to lighter .  Deep lavender.  None / no fragrance.  up to 78 petals.  Average diameter 1.5".  In small clusters bloom form.  Occasional repeat later in the season.  
Habit:
Thornless (or almost).  
Growing:
USDA zone 6b through 9b (default).  
Notes:
Named after Mrs. James Shepherd, nee Harriet Nelson, 1800 - 1877
