I find it frustrating that though it is supposed to be very disease resistant, this spring in Michigan, z6a (granted, it's been a bit wet, but what spring isn't here?) it's one of the ONLY bushes I have simply covered in blackspot (the other one being La Reine, but I forgive her because she is covered in rain-resistant blooms and smells amazing). I even used a granular fungicide at the beginning of the spring on all my roses, and it made zero difference to Malaguena.

Also, it's one of the few roses I have that can NOT handle rain. The blooms hold on fine and don't fall off or ball, but they all hang their heads upside down and do not recover. I'm about to shovel prune all my Mal's to make space for something else.

I think that the wrong Tickled Pink is listed as a parent.

Hi Michael..

Yup, you're right. It has to be the Lammerts 'Tickled Pink'. I'll fix it.

Smiles,
Lyn

I purchased this rose as a very small own root three seasons ago. Even as a tiny plant it bloomed very well. It has matured into a bloom machine. The freckles on the petals of this rose are very appealing. This was the first Buck rose I purchased and have been very pleased with it.
