This variety does seem to be a bit of a blackspot magnet. I've had a couple of them in recent years as it's a terrific bloom, but it does seem to get bad BS and defoliate at the drop of a hat (mine are still in pots, so may be better in the ground). I've also seen them getting bad BS on the ones in the shops, which isn't a good sign (as they would have been sprayed very recently).

Pope John Paul 2 rose seems to be better pretty much across the board, as far as white HT's go. More vigorous, more densely foliaged, more healthy, better fragrance, probably more prolific, also well formed.

Over here it behaves well as for Blackspot. Not a prolific bloomer, but at ths moment (fall) a very nice display of greenish white big HT roses. But indeed little scent to detect outside, but in a vase indoors a medium strong nice scent, a bit like Valencia/Kupferkönigin with a hint of bitter almond.

This is available from Palatine Roses in Canada as well.

I wouldn't want to know where it is available from for I don't buy roses without a pedigree.

Imagine buying a yearling colt or filly without a pedigree.

Has anyone tried this one in noticeably less than ideal sunlight? The area I'm thinking of does get 6 or more hours of sun during the day, but only during the time period from mid-May to the first or second week of August, when the sun is higher in the sky. (Tall deciduous trees to the south of the spot here in North Carolina.)

Great pics! I stumbled across this one at Northland Rosarium, in Washington State. They have a website.
