This rose, in my opinion, has a medium strong bitter-almond/cedar/rose scent.

Jay-Jay, I agree. I was smelling it today and it has an unusual woody/cedar component to it and that almond fragrance too, although if I hadn't have read your assessment, I wouldn't have necessarily identified these components on my own. The scent is very nice.

Yes it is! There are more HT's with that woody cedar component in their scents. Like Valencia (KOReklia), Prince Jardinier and Parole.

I planted this as an own-root rose in 2009. It has been exceedingly slow growing, still about 6 inches high. Today I saw the first bloom, and it was beautiful--but there was only that one. This rose might do better budded to a good rootstock.

That one grew bigger, but I lost it and have replaced it. My new plant is tiny. I think this rose needs to be budded.

Or perhaps grow a cutting of the climber if you can find one. My two plants of the climber are doing well, (but I want one more season to observe the blooms before I add it to my list.)
