I guess the patent is PP#5646 even though the current # points to "POULart". There seems to be some confusion in the patents over the codenames for Modern Art and Karen Blixen. Unfortunately, it doesnt add any further lineage info, altough I am betting it is at least 1/4 Picasso :)

The finest painted rose I have ever seen by far. The spring blooms have the most stunning brush strokes (too weirdly beautiful to describe). The blossoms of mid summer are a big nicely formed bright orange, sometimes with little or no painting. The thorny bush is very generous with clusters of blooms. No scent. I have craved this rose from the moment I saw it growing at the excellent Rose Hills Cemetry (AARS Tester) Gardens in the early 90s (Whittier, Ca.). Finally Armstrong Garden Centers offered it a few years ago and I was able to buy a nice sized bare root. Looks like its in the hard to find category again.
