'Golden Promise' first caught my attention (San Jose Heritage Rose Garden) when I noticed that the pictures I had taken of it were shot in December and January. I started watching it more closely and found that it stops growing and blooming at high temperatures. I have a few pics of it blooming in July and September, but none in August.

It doesn't drop its leaves, but the terminal bud stops growing.

Years ago I saw the same thing with 'Golden Showers' in Kansas, where summers are substantially hotter than in San Jose.
