Graham Thomas.  Rosa Rugosa
Doubles are headed by the well-known white ‘Blanc Double de Coubert (1892), the least bushy of all the varieties, and its extra double sport ‘Souvenir de Philemon Cochet’.  This occurred originally in 1899, but has repeated itself in recent years on several occasions on stock under my care;  the densely packed petals, which have a pinkish flush in the centre on opening are surrounded by wider outer petals, in effect rather like some double hollyhocks.
